Here is a site with a lot of different types of bed rails to aid you:

It's a wonderful idea. I have something similar next to my bed and I grab and pull myself up, plus it keeps me from rolling off the bed.
I would highly recommend it.

I bought for my recuperation since I am getting a shoulder rebuilt. I put the bed rail up on the side of my good shoulder so I can grab to get up. That way I have something to grab onto. There is also a lever to raise the bed up and down so you don't need a step to get up and down. If you can get a rail, take it because they will come in handy. I hope that I won't be using the bed except just for the recuperation. But it will always be there for when I need it.
I found it through the Trading Post through the MS Society. The guy said that he also had it listed on Craigslist.org. It was listed for over $400 but he said he would take $100 because he wanted to get rid of it. It was for his grandparents and it wasn't needed any more. Anyway, I recommend it if you need it. Another thing you could do, is do core exercises to help you get out of bed on your own. But if you have an injury it will really help like for me.
I have also seen those things that you put under your regular mattress that comes up and is like a rail to grab onto. That would do the same thing.
