Jessica, I live in Washington state. I just made an appointment with Dr. Bowen voted the best in America for Jan 2nd, for a second opinion, and then I'm set on his waitlist. In the meantime I will go to the Rheumatologist to see if he can find anything. Sounds like a plan! lol (((hgus)))

Good!!! Glad you're getting another opinion AND seeing a rheumatologist. My first neuro (Mr. Wishy Washy....one day this, one day that) is also an MS specialist and is recommended on the national MS society website. They are not all created equal. Hope you get some answers!

OMG, Get this....I just got the CD and Doctors notes from this cervical MRI. I had the consultation with the MS specialist and the only thing she said is that I have a mild buldging dic in my neck. Well the notes said I have multiple buldging dics with spurs and spondylosis AND a masses on my Thyroid which is larger on the left and a ultrasound is recommened. WTF? You would think this is something you should tell a patient that has hypothyroid problems anyway. These notes came with the CD I requested, if I didnt I would of never known. WOW...thats all I can say is WOW.

Same thing happened to me Bon. In Aug 2010, I had a complete thyroidectomy. I get copies of EVERYTHING!! Took me many ER visits with severe neck pain and finally a compassionate ER Doc ordered an MRI of Cspine and I had MANY goiters pumping mad amounts of hormone! Then by accident, the lesion/ syrinx/whatever the hell it is was found in my neck. I feel for ya! Hang in there!!

Thanks Heidi, I had a goiter about 12 years ago, and had radioactive iodine treatment, I have been taking levothyroxin ever since. You would think with that history she would of said something, amazing! (((hugs)))

Hey!!! I have goiter too!!!! The call it a "diffuse nontoxic" goiter so they aren't doing anything about it. Goiter club!

Crappy that the doc didn't mention anything to you. Sorry I keep making your post about me but I also noticed that my neuro seemed only concerned about the neurological stuff and doesn't even want to hear about or discuss non neurological symptoms. (Which I think is DUMB when you're not diagnosed. Shouldn't everything be taken into consideration?) Now that you know you can find a doc who will take action. Obtaining and reading your records is just another important way of advocating for yourself. Keep on going, you're on the right track!

Dear Bon67: please don't get discouraged. It took many MRI's and many neuro visits plus yes rheumatology, immunology, hematology and more visits before I was finally officially diagnosed. I was told it was Probable MS for yrs and only after a second positive spinal tap and severe head injury from a fall was I officially diagnosed as R/R MS. I empathize totally because all that time I was working as a nurse! I had a doctor tell me I was crazy, depressed, anxious, neurotic etc...so keep your chin up, it often takes awhile. If you have the MS Hug and bladder issues or spasms, severe fatigue, weakness in limbs or funny tingly feelings...you probably have it. I just started treating myself to massages, acupuncture, exercise-it does help fatigue-and kept a positive attitude even when I wanted to scream with frustration! There are a lot of us who go thru this turmoil so please don't get discouraged! Hugs, Hugs, Hugs, but only the good kind!

Thanks redopal, yep I have all of those things, but its hard to tell what causes what because of all my back issues and neuropathy in my left foot and leg. The ms hug, lesions and glossophargealneuralgia....have no idea how to spell it, like TM but in you tongue, its from the 9th crainal nerve, these things make me think I have it. Oh well, just have to do what I have to do. Thanks so much and big gentle hugs to you.

Bon- are you eligible to take family medical leave to get some of these appts taken care of???? Did they do MRI w and w/wo contrast and was this a 2nd opinion neuro you saw- if not you may want a 2nd opinion.The f/ups you have scheduled are great.I have sevral friends with fibro and they are taking medictions which are helping them.

I ended up taking medical leave and had to use my 12 weeks and then I was too ill to return to my job- and had to vountarily resign and apply for SSDI so here I sit.

I am not suggesting you use up all your family medical leave and lose your job.If you can work-work-but like Lynne said to someone else the Americans with Disabilities Act can help make accomadations at work for you and I bet that would include needing to go to numerous medical appts.
I too was told that the lesions were not in right spot for MS, but you do not have to wait another year for MRI- I had my firest one in June and will have one end of Nov or Dec and my symptoms have gotten worse as time goes on so I suspect I may have new lesions.Please go to another neuro- I think some people on this site had to go to numerous neuros till they found someone whoi would listen and not dismiss them.Really if you do have MS- a year is too long to wait for an MRI-Ellen

Hi Ellen, Yes it was with and without contrast. I did make another appointment for a second opinion on Jan 1st. I can't take a medical leave because it is without pay and I can't afford that. I'm very lucky that the owners of my property I manage really like me, and I did cut my hours down a little and can do some work at home which helps. I have so many other things wrong that it makes it difficult to tell what symptom comes from what ya know? (((hugs)))
