I had mentioned that I wanted to buy this when we run out of our fish oil. Astaxanthin is an antioxidant, good for eyesight & reducing inflammation, etc. If you get it in fish oil then you get both benefits (2 in one product).

It is $30 a month at above URL. I have to buy more fish oil in about 2 months, I buy in bulk because it is cheaper. At this point my hubby's amino acid blood work will be done. If he has no deficiencies then I'll get this. If he does we will have to stick to the lower cost fatty acids and buy what he needs to treat deficiencies.
Look forward to hearing back on your results too.

PS I am not a doc so always discuss options with a medical professional before starting medications/supplements/treatments.

JOINT problems, if I understood your post right, have research on the positive effects of ...undenatured type II collagen (UC-II). The research is much better on UC-II than MSG, etc.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12837047
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20444013
"Although glucosamine and chondroitin treated group showed significant (P < 0.05) reduction in pain compared with pretreated values, the efficacy was less compared with that observed with UC-II. In fact, UC-II at 480 or 640 mg dose was found to be more effective than glucosamine and chondroitin in arthritic horses. "

"The study also showed that a combination of
UC-II and glucosamine plus chondroitin sulfate
provided significantly better results than
glucosamine plus chondroitin sulfate alone, suggesting that a formulation of these ingredients could provide enhanced benefits to joint health sufferers. "
Best wishes to you in looking at the research and working with your doctor to find out what works best for you.

It should read
IF I read your reply #2 right you have joint problems. If this is the case look at the research and the positive effects of undenatured type II collagen (UC-II). The UC-II joint research results are much better than the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin without UC-II.
If you can get a combo of all three that seems like the best but know UC-II is getting really good results so it would seem prudent to at least get it. Talk to your doc to see what they think of the research.
Human Research
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2764342/
"both treatments reduced the WOMAC scores, which measures the difficulty in physical function, stiffness and pain in the knee. However, treatment with UC-II was found to be more effective in reducing the WOMAC scores by 33% as compared to 14% in G+C treated groups after 90 days. Similar results were observed for VAS scores. Although both the treatments reduced the VAS score, UC-II was found to be more effective with 40% decrease after 90 days of treatment as compared to 15.4% in G+C treated groups. The Lequesne's functional index was used to determine the effect of different treatments on pain during daily activities. Treatment with UC-II reduced Lequesne's functional index by 20.1% as compared to 5.9 % in G+C treated groups. Thus, UC-II supplementation showed improvement in daily activities suggesting an improvement in overall quality of life in the patients receiving UC-II."
40mg of UC-II was used in this study.
