this is all so familiar. could you imagine all of us in the same room? it would have to be empty and padded!
You described what I do exactly!! I bend down to pick up something, put that back and knock something else over. It's great to find others who do exactly the same things. MS is just such an interesting disease. Constant surprises.
In fact, it's getting so bad that my rheumatologist sent me for PT to work on balance/coordination & muscle tone. Instead of it (balance/coordination) getting better, IT'S GETTING WORSE!!! Funny thing is I was exactly the opposite when I was younger & healthier. I was a faily good athlete...basketball, tennis, softball, volleyball, cheerleading...then there was skiing, painting, piano, horseback riding, etc... Couldn't have done all those things without great coordination & agility. I've always had great Fine Motor skills too ("was" very artistic). So, this is ALL new to me!
My husband now refers to my "mugs" as my "sippy cups"...as I'm FOREVER making messes! LOL! I'm CONSTANTLY knocking things over when I reach for them (misjudgement/visual accuity, hand tremors, or poor coordination??), dropping things when I think I have a good grasp (?), tripping over "nothing," bumping into walls/doors/objects that I can clearly see!, bumping into items/clothes racks, buggies, people in public places, and I STILL have these strange sensations that....when I move my head sometimes, It feels like "my whole body is moving" and it really throws me off! Also, I will be walking and suddenly it feels like I'm falling to the right (?) And forget trying to walk in the dark....my mind seems to lose all sense of "body-in-space" awareness! This ALL started over 2 years ago when all my other neurological symptoms started up, and has gradually gotten worse!
Also, when we are dropping things, do you think that has to do more with muscle control/nerves, or coordination?....or maybe a little of both?? I swear I must look like a drunk walking around sometimes. I get some of the strangest looks when I "suddenly" start "staggering/falling, bumping into things" in public. I just hate it!! Although...I'm starting to go out into public less & less.....I can no longer seem to control my bladder either!!! :(
So yeah...join me up in the "KLUTZ CLUB!!" LOL! ;)

The other problem I have, which I am going to talk to my landlord about, is that the corners, especially around doorframes, seem to get smaller and wider. I don't know what that is about, but it seems that I think I have left plenty of room, I just walked through one way, and blam, the space is different. I am hoping he can find some wood that will stop expanding at will.
I hate it, and my family teases me...trying to see the light side of it
"Do you really want me to help set the table and do the dishes? That's your good china, isn't it?"
Keep smiling!
I was at a restaurant once, bumped into the divider between booths and said "excuse me" out of habit (like the others that say it to furniture). Someone sitting in the booth hidden behind some plants said "you're fine" and it startled me!
:o)
It is a patience thing you learn after 22 years of this shit
