I'm considering taking a week off for an overseas vacation. I had wanted to see what it/I am like without the Rebif. I know some people say they didn't know how much it was affectingthem until they stopped. I talked to my doctor and issue might be that I would have to jump back on the full dose when I got home, no titration period. And it might make the side effects like nausea worse again. But I'ven never had the nausea or headaches or any side effects really. I"m on the 22 dose and have been since July. Anyone else taken a break, and is one week long enough to stop to make side effects go away?
I took bettaseron, it worked well for 2 years on the 3 year it stoped working. Betaseron has that frustrating every other day schedule & I couldn't remeber from 12 day to the next if I had done a shot the previous day.
So I finally tied it to thre calendar. Shot days were even days and I did'nt do shots on odd days. for months a year, when the month ended in 31 and began on the first, i had a day off, I did a shot on the 30th then the 2nd. It was only 4 times a year I delayed by a day, then I learned that antibodies against a med can build when the concentration in the body goes low then back to normal....
I don't THINK that was why betseron stopp[ed working for me, it was only 4 times a year. But I will always wonder....
So besides considering that side affects may return also consider anti body development.
Don't ever forget, you can't judge how a med will affect you by what others say. Just as MS is different for each of us, so to are the effects of the meds on each of us.
MS is part of your life forever, so to will be the choice of treatment you make. You might as well get use to that now.
You are blessed you were able to handle the start of your med with ease. My advice is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's no big deal to take a shot every other day. Just be thankful it's there.
Oh, and Lynn, best thing about having to remember the every other night shot is the calendar I get for Christmas every year. This year is was NYC fire fighters. Nothing like pics of hunky men to cheer you up!
