I've noticed that since my attacks are more pronounced that I never get a common cold or flu or any bug floating around.

I might get a little sniffle or draggy feeling for a day but then right back to normal.

A friend at work with RA says she has the exact same thing, she never gets down for more than a day. She says it's our overactive immune systems just plugging along on high speed, keeping away all the bugs out there.

Anyone else notice this good phenonimum?

It's a cold day in Hell when i get sick. Now i see why i never got colds or anything. My immune system was all beefed up.. a little too beefed up in fact which is why it's now attacking my nerves. That jerk.

I agree... I never get sick. Yes, I may get a cough or the sniffles, but nothing more. Every one in the house can be sick and vomiting, but I never seem to catch it.

I have never gotten many colds. Guess you could call this the silver lining of the MS cloud.

When my Mother was going through chemo, her doc gave her a long list of things to do to not expose herself to nasy bugs. One that I thought was really good was, never use the pen at a cash register - always carry your own. Think about it, if cart handles are full of germs, think about eveyone that uses those pens. Icky!

LOL Thehouseofboo, "That jerk". How true.

I wonder what it means that some of us are more immune and some are more susceptible to bugs.

Does anyone know of any research in this area? Could there be links to different degrees of MS regarding this?

Just thinking :)

I never seem to get sick either. My husband and daughter just got done being sick. Him...for what seemed like 3 weeks now...and her...maybe a week and a half. He was such a baby about being sick though...that I think I'm going to ACT like I don't feel good. That way maybe I'll get out of doing some of the normal every day things....haha.

I seem immune from colds and flus....just auto-immune for me.....Unless I actually have Lyme, which is probably a longshot, but Im hoping.

Wish I could say the same for myself. I've been sick with this nasty cold bug since one of my classmates showed up sick at school. Nice. I've been battling it since Sunday, so four days now.

My whole family just had a round of ear infections and sinus infections and I was fine, But when I go back to work next year, teaching, I hope it stays this way.

This is a really interesting subject. I've never thought much about it, I've always been careful to go get my flu shot etc since my dx but I don't get a cold or come down with virius very often..

I havn't read anything about this in any of the MS literature or books I have either. Bet a lot of us will be asking our doc's next time we see them.

This is definatly not me I get pneumonia several times a year and it take for ever for me to get rid of it too.

I never get sick with a cold. i cant remember the last time I had one. I used to get sick non-stop before the MS. I cant imagine getting anything on top of this crap!

40 years ago, when I started teaching, I got sick a lot during a three year period. After that, NOTHING, until recently, while on Copaxone, I have a bad cold.. ;o)

Same here! I only get sick if I was on steroids,which lower the immune system, and someone has a cold around me. Did you know if you eat sugary foods your immune system goes down for approx. 3 hours. Another reason to eat healthy. God bless!
