Are you on a drug for MS? I have been on Copaxone for just over a year now. I was diagnosed with guttate psoriasis about a month ago. I started noticing a couple of my injection sites also break out with psoriasis really bad. I thought this was weird and was wondering if anyonone else has anything to share about psoriasis and skin reactions of a MS drug.

I'm not on any treatment, I have it on my frontal scalp and small patches in scalp scattered like dandruff. The great thing about both of them is the new treatment that will launch in April of this year, finally getting approved down here and not just in the UK. BG12 treats MS and our psoraisis

Just IMHO, I don't know of any connection. There may be a duel diagnosis. But I haven't heard about a connection except for this post. I have never had psoriasis. Is it an auto-immune disease?

I understand that auto-immune diseases are common within the family of someone with MS. Other than that, I know nothing about psoriasis.

Psoriasis is also an autoimmune disease. The weird thing is the reaction my skin is having where my copaxone injection sites are. I didn't have issues with copaxone until I got an outbreak of psoriasis.

I just wanted to throw this out there in case you wanted to talk to your doc about it. GILENYA (fingolimod) is an oral medication that is based on a lower dose med used for psoriasis. At larger MS dose has been shown to reduce not just WBC but heart rate which should be monitored with ECG during first dose. Occular test should also be done beforehand too because inflammation of eye can occur. As with most MS meds they test liver enzymes.

Thanks for the info.

It put in a few brief appearances a couple years before dx. These days it's an on again, off again thing. It's never been more than an annoyance. The patches I get range from the size of a pencil eraser to a U.S. quarter. The only thing I use is prescription Amlactin topical lotion. It works great.

I have excema (similar) & have had since birth, hayfever, migraines & all can be tied together as autoimmune as my migraines are allergy a lot too.

AusSue~ Quick question with all your issues, do you have IgG allergies to dairy, etc? Note docs usually test IgE not IgG antibodies.

REDUCING dairy, adding probiotics + frozen strawberry/spinach or kale drinks got rid of his eczema. Undaignosed allergies can impact migraines and autoimmune diseases too.

It is just a thought.

Yes I have psoriasis, but I was dxd for MS 5 years ago. I think I've had psoriasis for over 30 years now.
