My MS of 12 yrs seems to be the least of my problems. My husband (36yrs) needed a physical for work, to make a long story short it looks like kidney cancer. I don't know how to get thru this. He's my rock. He has had no symptoms, when his blood work came back for his physical his liver enzymes were a little high so they did a ultrasound and saw something abnormal and then a CT scan a saw a mass on his kidney. We see the urologist on Tues. Our daughter is an RN and had a couple of dr.s look at the CT scan and he will probably need his kidney removed. I don't know how to get thru this. I'm trying to stay positive and keep busy and he seems to be handling it okay but he may be in denial. I can handle this going on with me but not my husband and children. I just want to scream and cry but I can't do either one.

Well the surgery is tomorrow...we have to be there at 11:00 and surgery is at 1:00. My husbands biggest issue is that he can only have clear liquids from now on and he likes to eat. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Will write back when I can. Kaye

Well it's been 24 hours since the end of surgery and I'm surprised at how well he's doing. He has been up and walking 4 times today and the pain is manageable with the IV drip and the surgeons seem to be pleased with the surgery. Is a 7x7 tumor really big because several people made the comment about how large the tumor was? If they get clear margins and it didn't look like the lymph nodes were affected or any other surrounding organs but they took some lymph nodes out to test them. We are waiting for the pathology they said in 3-4 days. Well let u know when we hear something. My MS is holding but I'm exhausted. I spent the night at the hospital last night but I came home tonight to get some sleep. Glad the surgery is over.

Well the pathology test came in today the results were:
Margins were clear but because of the size (over 8cm) increased chances that it may show up somewhere else primarily in the lungs, chemo is an option, just have to weigh the pros and cons AFTER he is recovered from this surgery. Stage 3 classified as T3a renal cancer.

Hopefully they got it in time!! you let us know -and take care of yourself- he doesnt need you down,, i know i would do the same thing, theres no way you can relax!!
