I pedal several hours everyday, no excuses, started doing steps recently and do some yoga.
My only concern is my wellness, since I can barely walk.
There is an app called NOOM, im using. Ive lost some weight almost effortlessly. I do some upper body exercises from you tube
Mobility is my motivation.
Best wishes, Alma
Any kind of activity wears me out for days. So I've yet to start an exercise program. In the last 6 months I've gained 15+ pounds - not good on a 5-foot frame. :( I love everybody's motivation on here...Alma, I will check out that app you mentioned.
xaviermom74 - good luck and if you want a motivation partner, message me!

Hi, my legs wont hold more than a couple of minutes standing, they are wet noodles. I pedal from a chair, cant sit on a bike due to lack of balance. I wanted to do something as I was very active. When I took pt they tried with bike, recumbent, none worked, so they placed pedals in front of chair and bam! Solved, I do something I love and make my muscles stronger. My daughters laugh, they say lets get her a tricycle and we dont have to push wheelchair.
Check Dominic Gill in you tube, and the series Take a seat, sharing the ride. Im almost like the last rider.
Feel free to message me. I exercise everyday regardless of anything.

1. It has to be sustainable - something you do every day if possible - so starting small is a good start. I began walking every day. First day could barely make the front gate. Now walk half an hour a day. (even Christmas Day!)
2. It has to be do-able. I could not do gym work, for example. If you get discouraged you give up easily. Also, the road is free (no gym fees!)
As for your weight loss, have you considered a low carb diet? This is recommended for diabetics. I have switched to this method and have lost over 60 lbs in 18 months.I found ww great but too expensive and couldn't keep up the meetings.
Good luck!

Nintendo Wii - Wii Sports Tennis and Boxing
I don't do anything but those two so far and will be trying the Zumba Fitness 2 for Wii...they say it's great cardio and I notice that when I become active just the movement alone helps with my energy and when I used to go to a gym I noticed that as well and this was before a MS dx so that's what is helping me now. You may want to youtube Wii Fitness and look for people who have talked about their experience with the weight loss on the Wii...it's very encouraging at least for me. I have heard that when you get rid of the wheat in your diet the weight comes off....saw it on Dr. Oz show a few weeks ago. Just keep saying Get Moving, Get Fit for motivation. It helps as I am passing the ice cream shop *grin* Good Luck!
Exercise is fantastic. Hooray for Alma for her dedicated exercising. I think its important but my fatigue makes mine erratic. Wish I was better. It really helps your MS.
