Obama Offers Last-Minute Fix For Obamacare Enrollees -- With A Catch

In addition to granting special dispensation for some consumers, Sebelius outlined other actions the administration is taking in hopes of smoothing the transition to 2014 -- all of which would require the cooperation of health insurance companies that may be reluctant to go along.

The administration wants insurers to effectively backdate coverage for consumers who either miss the Dec. 23 deadline to enroll or the Dec. 31 deadline to pay their first premium, or make only a partial payment, said Michael Hash, the director of the department's Office of Health Reform. Insurance companies also are asked to pay for prescription refills that were covered under new customers' previous policies, as well as visits to medical providers who aren't in their networks, including in cases when the provider lists on HealthCare.gov turn out to be inaccurate.

"We're encouraging them to offer retroactive coverage," Hash said. "Our partners in the insurance world are really wanting to work with their prospective and newly enrolled individuals to make sure that ongoing medical care that they may be involved in is seamless."

I am actually really lucky with my private insurance. Mine is the type where you get an HSA to go with it so everything is out of pocket until you reach your min which for me is $3500. However, I do get help from this place that will pay $12,500 a year for anything I would have to pay for my medication. The big amounts are usually the first and second month of the year then I just have to do the $50 a month but I still don't pay that. Not sure if any one of you have that option or not. I don't make a lot so I think that plays a huge role in everything also.

I just watched a video of a woman who has MS and has been using natural essential oils like peppermint and cinnamon in vegetable based capsules. I have emailed the company to find out more about it and when I do I will post more info here. It is do-Terra and they are kind of spendy but then so are MS drugs. I am fortunate that the VA pays for my Avonex but I am getting wbc and platlet suppression from it so I may have to come off it for awhile. I do know that Avonex advertises financial help for those on the drug but am not sure of how much help they provide. I believe everyone with MS should have more access to PT but a lot of that is up to the individual. I regularly exercise even if it is just gardening and believe that continued activity of some kind is very essential for keeping me upright and mobile. I also do yoga and everyday stretches before leaving the bed! Diet changes have also influenced my disease progression...don't eat any processed or refined foods and avoid High fructose corn syrup...no corn oil, no GMO foods if possible-organice home grown veggies and home cooked meals are a real good way to start. I know that may be hard for some of us who are challenged by fatigue but doing bigger batches and freezing leftovers helps. Get your caregiver on board if needed!

This sounds very interesting. I myself use oils, they truly help many things.
