I always feel like Super Woman and able to do most of the stuff again for 3 weeks after I need to take them.
THIS LAST time I ended up with a cold; so my Super Woman time was cut to just one week.:(
Do you think you could have a simple thing like a cold or a UTI that is robbing you of the wonderful energy that the Steroids usually make us all wish we could be on them every week! Talk with your neuro of course.
(hugs)
prednisone/steroids just reduce the inflamation faster which reduces the symptoms of the relapse faster....So now that you have done prednisone to reduce the inflamation faster--your just waiting for your bodies natural inflamation reducer to catch up....without all the adverse affects that prednisone can cause(see EPagains post of adverse affects you really don't want with prednisone)
FYI-the first time i did oral prednisone, the same thing happened to me -everything got worse after the prednisone ended. i called my doc and he prescribed another week of prednisone and after that ened everything was better & stayed better! Your doc is just trying to find an optimal for you, not too little that you don't get any affect & not too much that you get the adverese affects from prednisone...
Sorry, its your body that's snoozing on the job about reducing inflamation...your doc was betting that your body was more alert....call your doc to report & he may prescribe an aditional week or look at the dietary anti inflatyion tips Epaigen wrote about to get your body moving on the anti inflation job its suppose to do......
prednisone is really just a convience to reduce symptoms faster but without them your body will do it if you wait..no difference in long term recovery from a relapse with or without prednisone/steroids.
Except for optic neuritis for that relapse steroids ar needed to prevent more permenant damage than just waiting for a person's own body to reduce imflamation. Use IV steroids always for ON
Remember the prenisolone/cortisone does have some ongoing issues & builds up with amount taken, It can cause a lot of issues including osteo- arthritis, bone weakness esp in hips, knees & feet.
Before racing & asking for more do some research & ask your Dr's about it.
Best wishes to you all!
I had the same reaction to Prednisone this summer. I had what I called preMS energy level.
I went back to the doctor and asked if we could do a daily dose. The doctor first went through the problems of prednisone and then asked me why I wanted to take it. I explained that I had preMS energy. He explained that I had 30 year old energy level, I am now in my 40s and lower energy is probably a fact of life. (He was nice about it.)
Good luck
