Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...
when i walk in. i start in a tiny square room with a wooden door. behind that door there are corridors with rooms. some are open and have light. others, most of them, are closed and dark. 1 room in particular, im not allowed to go in or even near. one alter resides in the corridors. we have a basement. we do also seem to have an attic. we have a garden where there are more little and seemingly deserted houses. the path leads up to the mountain which is a safe spot, surrounded and hidden by trees, and it's sort of a hole in the ground or a crater. it seems that at least one alter resides there. during the path the environment changes from sandy dry ground to very nature-rich.
this inner world has always been there and i do not remember ever actively creating or imagining one. i remember trying to stay in this world and avoiding/denying the existence of that world, starting at a young age.
there is also a forest down the road, and if you go through it there is a lake with a dock. across the lake there is an island, where on the beach a bunch of people are having a picnic. i am invited, i know, but it means swimming across the lake, and i know that doing so means getting into the water, and the water--somehow i fear, holds memories too, means facing things that i am afraid to face, and so far, i am still isolated on my side of the lake, watching the others across the way. they cannot/have not seen me yet.
i don't imagine this or manipulate it, but as things change inside, i will get a new image.
