Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...
I agree and like people I'm with to be comfortable and their authentic selves.
I'm pretty sure I grasp what you are referring to as "act" but I also am wondering if there might be something I might not be aware of.
I can only speak for myself, but when I change my behavior to fit better into the social situation going on around me or toning down my mood it can feel like I'm acting.
There's no need to answer this question if you'd rather not.
My question is: If a social environment calls for the expected "norm" behavior, wouldn't the best qualified person in your system step forward to be the one in control.
I can think of instances where that probably wouldn't happen.
Example , going in to pay for gas. The task is short and quick so just pretend "act" the part for 5 min and get out.
I think I finally framed a better question.
Does your (or other members here) system have a conductor, a coordinator that says hey
' "X" your up, "YZ" step aside for this.' ?
If we could control who came out that best fitted the situation, I think we'd. Be damn superheroes lol
The benefit we have is that we co-exist, so as we are acting we can get inputs from inside on the best way to handle the situation or person
I think this happens to me sometimes, maybe. Sometimes when I am going in to work, I am like WAAAYYY too little to be working (or driving!) so because I'm a stressor, I will like basically yell at people to stop messing around and for the right person to step forward and fast. Prolly shouldn't yell, but in crunch situations I'm kind of a meanie.
But there re times that the right person - or wrong - pushes themselves through just out of instinct or interest.
Very limited to almost no control of whom is up front.
There, many times is a lack of communication between system members.
I can see that many many times how one would have to pretend to fit into what is expected of them.
W O W what a pain in the arss. Also potentially scary as well. You could go back out the next day and people would give you a strange look, even people you don't know. All because someone elsent decided not to pretend the day before and said/did God knows what.
Sorry you all end up stuck in a world that has little interest in knowing or learning much about people with differences like yours.
This is getting long, I will end it now. Again thank you all for helping me understand a little piece of what it's like to have more than one person share one body.
