personally i feel safer having an objective third party present if i am going to attempt to dialogue with family members about anything of real significance....but that is just me.
all too often i see dysfunctional family dynamics continue to play out long after any overt abuse has stopped (hopefully).
my recovery depends on me moving forward and surrounding myself with healthy relationships and leaving unhealthy ones behind or at least setting up large boundaries....

Thanks everyone for writing, it's sad to hear but kind of comforting that it's not just me being a 'bad sister' for not magically being able to just be cool with them and be ok about it all.
