Sometimes I feel tall and other times small. My partner notices that sometimes I am eye level and other times at chest level. I won't be measured - it freaks me out. Also a Therapist once told me that my face changes when I switch -not just a bad hair day. So I agree there can be physical changes.

my eyes actually change colors.
My voice changes completely.
While i'm allergic to methol, one of my alters(lily) is not.
two of my alters(lily and Anna-L) drink black coffee while i put hot cocoa mix in my coffee.
My youngest alter (Emily, age 7), talks and cries like a child. Her voice has not deepened like a womans voice does.

I have to agree, that I definitely feel differences when I switch between some of my alters. One of the biggest ones I've noticed is feeling like my body should be shaped differently than it is. I'm fairly sure at least one of my alters has an eating disorder of some kind, as well as a tendency to get headaches/migraines when I switch.

I should also probably mention that at least one of my alters has some form of a speech impediment. Otherwise I can speak with clarity and precision.

I think I'm starting to notice my body taking an even more feminine shape with how much Hope is out. I took a five minute run, and my chest has been sore, and not in an asthmatic way. I've never had that problem before either, which really scares me on the idea of physical changes. I might have to be getting some more clothes for Hope soon.

In the past, I would get drunk a lot to ease inner pain and when an alter would come out they were not drunk and suffered no physical ramifications. Likewise, I am allergic to peanut butter and my alter little rea LOVES it and would stuff our face with it and have no ill effects. If I came out, I immediately broke out into hives and got ill. LOL

Other changes were: Likes/ dislikes. At the time 3 diff coffee preferences and 6 different cigarette brands with the guys preferring cigars. LOL Were twitching when switching. (should be a T-Shirt slogan) Clothing for each one, voice, mannerisms, writing, one of my alters stuttered while I did not. Two were male and spoke male. One was a dog and did not speak but barked. One of my alters wrote and spoke in German. (I still can;t. LOL

I had neurological episodes non idiosyncratic something seizures. basically after brain surgery they said must be psychosomatic because it wasn't the tumor causing them. Shrugs. I still get them. I see others do too.. I get them at night also. WOW!

Since my integration, I have collected pictures of myself in different alter states. I can tell you there is a difference and you can see it, especially the littles and the anger personalities. :)

It would be fascinating to hook up our brains to a PET scan and watch them light up in different areas when switching.

LOL Hope I can relate at least on the other end of the spectrum. I have had male alters come out an not realize they were in a womans body. One of which upon going to use the bathroom he learned he was in a womans body looked down there and said "wonderful, rolled his eyes and shook his head" in a completely disappointed way.

I have had physical manifestation of flashbacks as well Wheezie. The first time happened in massage. I had a flashback and freaked my therapist out. On my back were fresh whip marks.

I can relate to male alter thing. Mine zipped up coats and threw on baseball cap to the eyebrows. lol But the worst was when they came out not realizing. or .. sorry to be gross, that time of month. They flipped out and switched IMMEDIATELY!

In the past I had several alters that did not need glasses and I do to read and drive. see distance.

I had alters that shut off pain.

LOL Ausie. Well I haven't had "the time of month" problem thankfully because I had a partial hysterectomy and bladder lift surgery almost four years ago but interestingly enough it might have been an ederly alter who caused that surgery. I was having bladder problems and my doctor said that my insides look like that of a 60 year old woman.You gotta love those doctors lovely bedside manners. I do have alters that numb pain too. After that surgery I believe it was that night or a day later I went to work driving delivery with an eight inch incision on my lower abdomen. An alter was created to take the pain away from that.Her name is Veronica. My husband who was with me at the time and completely objected to me doing that said I barely even made a sound that night.He said he was astonished that I even could tolerate that much less not make one peep.

I remembered today that I broke my leg 20 years ago and set it myself because I was stuck in the house alone waiting for help to arrive. There was no pain. I just always thought I did an extraordinary job setting it. Now I know.

Stephanie~ WOw, OUUCH! I can relate and people think I'm nuts when I say this but I stitched my own leg when I was a kid, because my mother refused to get me medical care. I felt nothing. (4 stitches) I did a damn good job too! The funny thing was my mother walked in on me when I was doing it and passed out. LOL Serves the woman right!

I have an alter who smokes. The first time I let her smoke she took a deep inhale and then said, "Man, it's been decades." Decades? I've never smoked a day in my life. When Laura the host tries to smoke I cough and sputter and can't inhale.

I can relate to innerdialogue. I space off, seem a little out of sorts when i am changing from one alter to another. I have been seeing some differences in my eye site.

My alters speech is different, the places my alters live are different. Elisabeth is not married (i have been married for 26 years), she lives about 2.5 hours away from where I live.

Lexi is my newest. She is 3 or 4 and when I switch I am that age. My husband played blocks with me on the floor.

This seems so weird and crazy. I have only known that i have mpd for about a year. Although I have noticed through the years that i was different.

Schalock your husband seems very supportive that is a great asset to have in healing from MPD. No it's not weird or crazy. Your little ones are just like any other child although they have suffered immensely. For them to play and laugh and have fun is a treasure and a major tool in helping them heal. My husband can see when I have a little one that has not yet fully emerged. They will sneak in and out acting childlike for a second or two and then they are gone. I believe that this is them testing the waters to see if it is save to come out and play. He says they are too cute.
