I do have nicknames for mine, but not real names, and they just kind of describe the attitude and it's not for purposes of further developing a separate personality. So one is nicknamed Janis because it's like Janis Joplin, but that's more an adjective than a name. Like I might say to someone, " are you anxious today?" who is normal, and for DID I might say 'are you Janis today?" though I know it's not a separate person. It's me I know but it describes how I am, what parts of me are dissociated and what parts are connecting and presenting.
A friend of mine had a litle who couldn't remember her name the first time we chatted. The second time she remembered her name but didn't like it so we went to an online site listing names and their meanings and she chose a new first and second name herself. She had lovely names now
