Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...

I'm just concerned for you. If you need a doctor then please find the help you need. You can even interview them. You are paying them to work for you they need to be all that you need. I asked my regular physician if she believed in DID before I chose her to be my doctor and she did. That took away a lot of fear away when I needed to go to her and she also understood my personality changes when I went to see her.
Give it a try. Let me know how it goes! Hug Cassi
that made me laugh
whoa KittyT, remind me to be ever so polite to you if ever we meet
lol
my sister said of Dr's and the medical process in general .... you gotta be the Driver of their bus, never just the Passenger. This is something i tended to live up to long before she said it. Which is why my relationship with Docs tends to be a tad awkward at times
:)
but having said that, I tend to agree with Cassi. We need them, so be courteous - but don't be afraid to politely state our case, be clear about our needs

Cassi....
Yeah I've had Dr issues forever. My mom and sister pretty much labeled me as a hypochondriac when I was growing up, and tried to dismiss my concerns for self and sometimes actively cover up my health concerns, like, not maybe "hide" my medicine, but make it hard to get to.
So I ended up doubting myself about all things when I was growing up and I that seems to show upon a lot at doc visits. So I present as mostly relational but I will shift in the session maybe and then fail to remember stuff or not get what I need taken care of.
At this visit i had an intern barge in, and they had poor and unconcerned and uninterested bedside manner, also a little bit "too good for you" feel to ythem
They just kept asking stupid things "yes, I have trouble breathing, see where I wrote ASTHMA as a condition!?"
So she wouldn't leave and get the doctor and I didn't like how she was treating me and could tell i was getting shifty, so I finally told her I had DID and she basically fled the room to find the Dr.
Once outside I could hear them talking and she kept saying things like "she says" and "she claims". .... and then the doc commented about me not takingvbmy meds right, and the intern said I'm out of all of them except one, so I basically yelled through the door that I still had the one cause I was not taking it as prescribed to make sure I didn't run out of it! I said this loudly through the door and then the doc finally came in dfor the first time.
Now, I get that the intern has to do her thing, but I need to have the doc talk to me when I am the reasonable me so I can talk to her about my DID and needs. I'm going to call the desk and make sure to have extra time for myself at the next apt and maybe give a heads up.
I wasn't trying to be bad, I was just pissed that I was seen as someone neglecting to take meds correctly (which WAS true, but for good reasons) and I wanted the doc to come in before I got shifty at the intern
:- )
but it makes a lot of sense to me
