next i had to study principles that are (required) to cooperate with and that are (generally) present in all healthy , fulfilling relationships: you already know what they are: trust, honesty, communication, understanding, caring, the list goes on and on.
--but negotiation is important since being a human being is complex and our needs are varied----so please be real with what your own needs are

Look for someone who's had lots of therapy. ;p

Look for someone who is financially together enough to not need rescued by you, who is kind, caring, reasonably smart, openminded, and calm. A sense of humor is really good too.
Avoid really fussy, bossy, pushy, negative or mean people, or at least don't get serious with them, because you don't want to wind up living with that, do you?
You're worth the effort, if they can't see that, it's their loss.
