Things change over time. Sometimes people don't believe you not because you are crazy or lying, but because they feel shame and guilt. They should have seen the signs or protected you. They don't want to remember that time of life. They have similar issues or whatever reason. You are not alone having family not believe you.
But that can change over time. As people see that you are still you and it isn't threatening to admit that bad things happen, people might be able to accept your condition.
Its sooooo hard to not be believed. To be called a liar.
But sometimes people are just afraid about something bad that might happen to them because they failed you.
They don't want to admit things that are ugly and scary.
Two people in my family didn't believe me. Questioned me, said I was wrong, said I was a hypochondriac or dramatizing things. It was hurtful, horrible, and devastating.
But I maintained my relationships and over time they both came to believe me and accept it, as much as they were able.
Hang in there, and only reveal as much as you feel safe to do. Your safety and wellbeing comes first, not convincing them or making them see...the care of you and hopefully they I'll come around
