Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. welcome to the group. I'm not Multiple myself, so I'm one of those that will never really understand. You've given me a new realisation, one I'd never thought about before. That you all have pretend (at least in part) to be the same person when you're out. Dunno why I never thought about that before, but I haven't. And yep, here's a good place to talk with people who are like you and and share experionces

I sometimes refer to myself as Team D (my first name starts with D) because yeah,we are all in there but can look just like the same old person to a co.worker who doesn't get it.
And even to someone who you explain the situation very clearly and thoroughly, they don't always understand or get it....like especially sometimes I will not know how to do something I've done a billion times, or will forget the way of it, and some people can't understand that.
Not to cop out on stuff, but I find it way easier to just tell people I have memory loss. Which is true. But when i need to, I stress the reality of having a swiss cheese memory condition, and sort of refer people to the movie 50 First Dates. I will just try to explain that my memory frequently dysfunctions and apologize foer whatever inconvenience.
In some situations that is just so much easier, and isn't a lie at least
