welcome to DS if this is your 1st time posting? I'm not aware if Hosts notice that they're Hosts, so I'm not really help for you. And Yep, campfires are calming to watch, aren't they. We have a slow combustion fire. Most of the time it's banked down so it just glows. But when we have the flue opened up to start the fire or make it hotter everyone, including the cat and the dogs, want ot get close and just watch as we drift off :)

Yes..they are calming. Wonder how therapists know when your switching? I think I'm experiencing derealization or something. Having a great deal of loss right now. So just feeling out of it cause its too painful to feel it. Its Like im weightless or something. What sucks is this is when i don't feel anything. . . which can lead to unwanted behavior...guess i am at least aware of it..maybe it'll help ground me just knowing.

I can't speak for therapists, but occasionally I think I've been aware of a friend switching cos there is a disconnect in our engaging, a kind of pause? And sometimes i think they start to use language slightly differently. Plus very occasionally they look a bit different in the way they use facial expressions. Once, and only once, it almost looked like one friend was herself but at least a decade older. Are you gonna be OK?

I just wrote this long post and NOTHIN!
OK, what I said was, you will show signs and your doc will see them.
It might be like, you wiggle in your chair, you fidget, your voice gets softer or louder. You'll use different wording. You might tremble when you talk or get a higher pitched voice. You will give off some kind of clues that he will learn to recognize.
Like, my voice changes, but I also push my face around, like I seem to try to hold my face omnto my skull. I get louder sometimes and sometimes you can hardly hear me. One of me gets really hot and pulls at clothes or just starts taking clothes off! Wooops.
But the doc will be able to know, and its ok

Ummm and once you mentioned buying things w/out knowing, or doing things, knowing people you doing know you know.
A lot of that will come up in the book, great rec from your doc.
Its called a Fugue state when you totally shift out of one fella and into another and do crap w out knowing.
When I first got diagnosed, I told one person I knew, and one of my alters. I told my friend that she might see me sometime and I wouldn't know her if I was in another me.
And this happened, she saw me and I walked right past her as though I didn't know her. We've been friends for 30 years.
And the only reason I know any of the stuff I'm telling you is cuz she told me all of this had happened years after it did, cuz I still have no memory of it.
Anyway, its bonkers crazy, and sci fi movie scary.
But others know what you are going through so you are not alone.

I guess being mostly isolated for the last 4 years during narcissistic abuse and the terror campain aftermath had at least one good effect ...no one around to notice. However alarmingly Purple spent hours with me today telling me things I don't/didn't remember some I remember a little now also Purple is positive we were being monitored in our own home secretly by out siders I asked C. she says yes it's true but it was (partially) for our protection and that it's ok . I knew some of it but I was till now back and forth about how real it was . C says it's all pretty messed up but we are safer now because it happened.. whew this is a lot to process I think I will just ignore it because I got a lot on my plate too much to worry about things I can't control. C. Says until all the details are available and when and if I need to know she will tell me . C knows so that's good enough. Theres so much more but I think my over sharing and worrying is in part why they keep important things from me so I guess it's ok. Everyone agrees I am happier when I can share so it's a trade off. We still don't have a new name for C. We are moving out of this trauma house soon so we decided to wait till then and C wants her own birthday too so we will do both . I guess I've written enough for now Bye All !
