While I do not have any gothic alters, I do believe that it is highly likely that some forms of SRA are likely to intentionally create alters that would accept it, like how Sara accepted what happened to us and made it part of her lifestyle (although she wants to change it now).

There was no R in my SA ;-) but Tia has gone Goth. I think it's an "I'm a tough kid, don't screw with me" statement, rather than a particular thing developed from a certain cause.

Tia used to line dance when that was the big social craze. She had lots of cowgirl outfits with plenty of bling, and controlled the room by turning the cowboys' heads. When that faded away, she found Goth to be a pretty cool statement with distinctive clothing, and gravitated to that.

She wasn't actually even created from my own abuse. We've found that she was created when a boy we were friends with (at age 7) who was abused wasn't believed by teachers and was sent away to a school for kids with bad behavior. We learned that we couldn't trust anyone to protect us as kids, so Tia came out to do the protecting. She also handled all misbehavior, and we locked her up for a long time so that what happened to our friend wouldn't happen to us.

When she's out, she's got a "Just try me" attitude. I'd bet that's probably the case for many Goth-loving alts.

I do. I think it was a comfert thing started as a kid becouse my sister who I was closest to is gothic. She was a big influence in my life.

Another thing I was reading on a SRA website from a SRA survivor.He believes the vast amount of alien abduction accounts are due to programming from SRA.They program these peoples alters to believe they were abducted by aliens and not being abused by these cults.It's very interesting and could provide a valid explanation to why there are so many alien abduction stories reported every year.

To answer your question; my gothic alters were influenced from the SRA and CSA abuse stuff. One of mine was created during a ritual and she is very gothic, dark and looks like death. Some of mine were created by the cult to be programmed into specific tasks and others were birthed in tremendous pain for me from the confines of my mind.

I do find that the most gothic are the most sexually deviant of my fragmented personality. I'm wondering how many other people experience this truth? Do you?

Interesting correlation I never thought of before in relation to us. I say it doesn't really matter any more than my other alts preferring leather and a biker persona, or a prostitution persona. Thing is, my alts take on whatever they prefer and are heavily influenced by that specific time period /event I believe/have come to understand.

The short answer LOL is mine were all formed from SRA though not all programmed from cult.

Most of mine were formed through SRA although a few of my protectors chose that because they felt it made them more intimidating.

My gothic parts also tend to be the most sexually deviant as well.

Sexually deviant? I guess not, but more sexually oriented? That's a yes for me. Tia handles all sex activities, from choosing what to wear (or not wear, or paint on the body) to leading the activities. She has been quite a flirt in the past and still can be sometimes.

Well yeah....we had one of those alts too who was Gothic and sexual. Guess I meant both deviant and sexual. It's interesting the commonality between SRA or RA, Goth and sexual though.

My only teen alt is an intellectual and not interested in goth. So I don't have any goth alters. But several replies have mentioned alters who want to be protective of the group. Or alters who want to be non conformists. I have an alter named Diana. She carries all the alter's anger and rage. She is also potentially violent and Laura has to keep a strong hold on her. Her "non conformity" manifests is almost a sexual fetish with guns.

I know myself that alters within us can have supposed fetishes or what we may feel to be deviant sexual behaviors.These are all forms of self harm such as fantasies about rape,bdsm,exihibitionism,vuyeurism etc.We also self blame because of this when really it is just our alters self harming.When my alters learned that fact they completely changed their behavior not wanting to participate in such things and reabusing themselves that way.

I agree with you Wheezie. Some of my alts in the past also utilized fetishes as an SI based on the pain they felt with SRA/CSA. We too experienced healing in that area once those alts realized what they were doing and more specifically why they were doing it. This came with a lot of love and acceptance within our household at the time. Ultimately change come over time though.
