Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...

Yes i have known another, but she was in denial at first...i think overtime she came to believe me when i pointed it out to her....after all, who wants to hear that they are a multiple?
what is common is trauma in the many forms it takes...not all people who experience trauma become multiples...but most people who have had trauma can relate to parts of themselves being "frozen in time" and thus needing to be freed so that the experience can live in past memory and not haunt their daily life.
having a support network of people who understand and who are on the healing journey can be helpful...those who have successfully healed from trauma possess much wisdom and have much to offer since many people suffer for many years before seeking "healing help"
we can learn much from veterans who have experienced trauma and are healing...they can also learn much from us who also have survived other forms of trauma...
I'm not sure how I feel about the figure of 1% of the population being Multiple. It seems soemwhat high for DID, and somewhat low for Dissociative Disorders generally? Though of course I have no way of knowing. For sure though, I'd agree that it is both misdiagnosed and underdiagnosed.
hi john12as, :)
haven't seen you active here for a while, how have you been?
There is a military base in San Diego that has successfully used alternative(?) treatments such as Neurofeedback as adjuncts to more conventional psych therapies to treat veterans with PTSD. Sometimes the results have been amazing. I've long wondered if many Multiples might not benefit from such approaches to reduce vulnerability to triggers etc
yes, there is a lot of money being spent on new treatments for veterans with PTSD that I'm sure can and will benefit anyone with trauma related conditions.
there is also crossover benefits for many addicts who begin there addictions as a way to cope with trauma
good to see you're still active
