I'm an old man, a child of the 50's, teenager in the 60's - and as I grew into an adult around 1970 we called ourselves Freaks. And it wasn't meant as something derogatory. You'd probably think of us as Hippies, though truth is - they were gone fairly quickly and we just followed right behind, pretty indistinguishable i suppose. But anyways, we were still outsiders, distrusted and disliked by our parent's generation and much of our peers. They didn't get us, and we tried hard to not be them. The things that have you call yourself freak might sadly be liabilities out in the world, but here in this group they are things to be shared and supported and sometimes even celebrated. To be a freak isn't always easy, but neither is it always a bad thing
