Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. You !might have a person who is borderline.
That person might be attention seeking because borderline types seem to need real strong intimate relationships and might do odd things to draw attention to themselves. Thats part of the xondition
You needed the attention.
And dissociation isn't the same because you have changed people and aren't in control in the same way.
So like....
If you are at a party and you know writing on the walls will get you yelled at, but you want to fight somebody, you write on the walls and that's attention seeking. But if you drink yourself into oblivion and are not sure where you are and wake up to find you've written on the walls, that's not attention seeking you were just dumb, drunk and making poor choices.
They maybe don't mean to minimalize it, but whatever they call some things sometimes trivializes it. Like its not really a suicide attempt it's a mock thing or whatever they call it. I think they are saying its a cry for help.
Well DUH YA DUMFUC$! Help me not kill myself!
You belong here and you sure sound like you have this condition. It feels crazy. I have asked myseldpf if I really have it a billion times and think I'm a faker.
You're not. Its just totally a weird condition.
Or tell them it upset you and talk about why.
Or skip it and let it come out later. Sometimes they are soooo clinical they don't know how to tell you stuff in a human way.
Here is my human way: you are beautiful and amazing and creative.
Try not to hurt yourself. If you do, try a little harder to not do it again. We want to get help to our people that need outlets and attention without harming the body they all work in. I just cut yesterday !myself, I usuallybtry to use Sharpie markers.
That's my thing, my slogan: Sharpies, not sharps.
Anyway I don't think your thera is saying you don't have DID, just maybe looking at the differences in the conditions?
