Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...
also what the point of switching in a stressful situation when the one that may present themselves is either really a 4yr old who cant really talk or some one who didnt develop properly in another important way. and yet no control of how long they are out and than months later realize that time exists and you cant tell if its been seconds or years.
i know you dont mean harm but i took your post a bit offensively. but its ok for me as like i said i know you didnt mean to hurt anyone..
and the "alters support" well that suuport is not all that great everytime. as a result, we may forget something one of us needed to remember or do harmful stuuf either to ourselves or others.
sometimes we have to calm a child down within and dont have the tools to. and no one absolutely no one can pick up on whaat you feel bcus even for everyone with DID, it varies and changes from person to person. also having a huge attachment to horrible triggers and phobias and bad traumatizing memories is a horrible beyond words kind of feeling. i can keep going but its way to much to try to narrow in words and attempt to label it as something you may try to understand at the same time rather than the words that make sense to me.
I have reached the pt where I would not want to get rid of my parts if I could, because I have grown to know them and love them, but it's like loving a dysfunctional family, but one that lives inside your head. I know that my parts came about to help me and that they sometimes help even now; however, I NEVER would have chosen to have this.
And, even though the parts can help at times, they can also create a lot of havoc. They do things that i would never choose to do, and that I then have to try to repair in the aftermath, and sometimes I have to first find out what the heck they even did, because I wasn't aware of it at the time.
Plus, when things are rough and one or more of us gets triggered, or is really upset, or wants to do something self destructive, it can get really chaotic and hard to handle. Try feeling and hearing the emotions of seven different people all at once (or more or less depending on how many parts someone has).
You think one person being down is bad. Try having a whole bunch of people of different ages who are all down at the same time, and all in your head. The intensity that you feel from just your own feelings is only one seventh of what it feels like when you have seven parts all struggling at the same time.
so i was curious...
what are your thoughts after reading everyone's reply here
I can see how someone could feel envy its understandable if you are not looking at the whole aspect of DID but just envious of the ability to switch to an upbeat alter when things are going badly. There are a lot of hurting and broken people here I think you would see that everyone just copes differently. Plus a lot of people who have DID dont know they have it who knows mabee you have one learking in there. If now why not imagine yourself stronger to empower yourself? Dono its an idea not telling you to make up an identity just imagine evolving or something like that. Shutting up now my advice isnt always the best.
but i still am hurt to hear and to see i wasnt the only one that didnt really like what "incognita": posted.
its like me going to a hospital specialized for victims of burns and say, "boyyy im jealous i dont get this much attention" or something of that sort.
its was just very inconsiderate of her..
to attempt to get to know about DID for her "friend" (i read her profile) than maybe knowing how sensative things are for people with DID, instead of talking to someone about it, she chose this specific MPD forum to say, "i envy you all"
she couldnt just say something different,... i dont know maybe supportive of this place,...
s"incognita" speaks of it like its easy, like she knows all about how it works and bcus its easy she wish she could switch? ...
i wouldnt go to like the "incest survivors" and say hey guys i never been in your shoes but i wish something this serious had happened to me that way i have a reason to hate my family...
this is a thing wrong ion this world, you have un-educated people and the believe they know best than say things and go around hurting others.
yet everyone here was nice enough to say, "hey it dont work that way, ur wrong, its actualluy tough and what not"
as in she definately made it seem like she know what it is and how it works and wishes to join. information was wrong if she knew all about DID im sure there envy will evaporate out of her eyes.
how dare this "incognita"... doctors dont even h ave a full perspective bcus it varies so much from person to person and not to mention the ongoing trauma
i wish i had my magic wand and wish her DID for one week and maybe than she would have more respect and be a more understanding friend
