Just found out few months ago. During summer I was getting bit by something like last summer mom gas dog dermatologist said fleas but this summer the reactions were ten fold and ten times worse then summer before. So had to go to urgent care again and at some point cane in contact with staph diagnosed with MRSA and they show on my upper leg thigh portion. Its only after I've been around a dog then I feel a pinch and a little red bite shows and then it continues to swell until its almost the size of an orange or grape fruit and my leg is killing me. I'm allergic to the sulpha medicine they tried I just broke out, the cipro seemed to work the first time but this time I broke out again so far mupirocin works and they trying to prescribe something else. I can't deal with this no.more.

Hello LoriBelle I want you to know that your not alone in this. I have had MRSA for over 13 years. I first started getting boils on my inner thighs. I had a kidney infection back in 2007 shortly after it cleared up I started getting boils on my hips. My scars are almost always symmetrical first I have a boil on the left side of my body and once it has cleared up I notice a new boil on my right side near the same location. I had an ear infection and was put on antibiotics and my boils moved to my anus and lower thighs. And after I went to the hospital with yet another kidney infection I was put on bactrim shortly after I started noticing boils under my armpits. I have a boil right now on my lower thigh near my knee. I am living in constant fear of having to take antibiotics. Sometimes I think about my life would be different if I had never contracted MRSA from a young age I have accepted I may never be able to get rid of it. When I go to the hospital they are always giving me HIV AIDS test and it makes me ashamed of my scars and the fact that I am a carrier. I am scared I will pass it on to the people I love. And the worst part is as you are able to blame that surgery I contracted it from my mother. Who has been living with MRSA my entire life. She has had to have surgery to drain larger boils on the back of her leg. On her lower back I have seen boils the size of an orange. She has them on her armpits, all over her back, thighs and also on her legs. I have made many different pastes that have helped with bringing the boil to a head so it is able to drain. Essentials oils like lemongrass and tea tree have helped me. Soaking with epsom salts and making baking soda and turmeric pastes have helped my boils drain on their own. I am afraid to go to the doctor I am living in a constant fear of any and all antibiotics. I have gone over a year without having a single boil before. The bacteria can live on doorknobs and other objects I know when I visit my mother I am likely to have an outbreak. I know this is not a battle that will easily be won. I feel this disease has made me more a humble person and made me thankful for my health. I have accepted that the scars will never go away and that I may live with this disease for the rest of my life. I wish the best for your health and recovery. My thoughts are with you.

I currently have a nephew in crictical condition in Erie.. and trying to find anything that the parents could ask or suggest..as it seems to be challenging even for the doctors.

I am a healthcare worker so I am exposed to lots of stuff. I was put on several antibiotics and finally Zyvox which is the only non IV stuff that is available. It runs around $100 a pill without insurance. Mine was in my armpits. 9 boils under the left and 4 under the right. It took Keflex then Zyvox then Bactrim DS back to the Zyvox to final get rid of that outbreak. Plus I was colonized in my nose so my family and I got muciprocin and hibiclens baths for weeks. I have since been diagnosed with common variable immunodeficiency disorder which means I am susceptible to bacteria. Lovely. Last year I has mrsa, 8 sinus/bronchitis infections plus infected nail beds and styes. I have since received my first IV immunoglobulin treatment. It will be something I have to have monthly. I am receiving 40 grams at a cost of around $100 per gram. I am hoping to start to feel better soon.

Hi Loribelle, I gotta say, about 6yrs. ago I started noticing these pimple like blister, that when popped pus like bleeding would shoot out. Never thinking much about it, i was thinking it was part of my hormonal changes, cause the would appear 2 weeks before I would start my period. Previous doctors didn't know how to treat this. Needless to say, got a new gynecologist, she took one look and said, it looks like MRSA, gsve me a prescription for antibiotic called Muprirocin Ointment. She wanted to to give me Bacterium, which I cannot take, because I also have lupus.
Which comes to my conclusion, when I was diagnosed with lupus thats when MRSA appeared.

I get these on my back or forehead or chin, I have "broken" them to express the fluid which seems to refill as fast as I squeeze, 1 grtew on back of neck and I needed surgery as it broke Under my skin=bad infection. I know its not good medicine but the pain if they are just bumped or when putting on clothes--eeooowwww.

I know that Medrol has helped them shrink on there own. I didnt know at first why I began getting these but it was verified by Doc and I just have to accept it and keep my skin clean Especially after sweating. (I'm a guy who gets hot flashes making my days "tough". I hope my rambling helps...

Can anyone add to this? I had a c-spine epidural and got a painful red swollen hump at the site. Admitted to a 2nd hospital as my hospital (V.A.) nurse said "oh no you didnt get =any infection here we are too careful." So I am admitted for 2 days and tested for infection, sent home with massive anti biotics and then I got letter from admitting doctor "finish the anti-b's if there helping though your blood test shows no infection.
The BAD news, MRSA only shows up when Specifically tested for MRSA it does not show up in the regular blood panel tests 4 infection.

My dillema is repeated cyst/boils around my neck and eyebrow /forehead (only 1 on my leg) And I cant go out in public w/them. so my experience is the MRSA boils appear near or on the original are of my body (neck head/side of nose. I am furious w/ the VA for being ignorantly defensive instead of bringing me in right away though I still would have it. Mucipirin helps though it still takes 3-6 weeks to heel along with the sometimes scarring
