Yay on your MRSA hiatuses!! That is so great and I know a relief not to have to deal with this for awhile.
So I was talking with someone about life insurance the other day and I was explaining that I had to renew my policy and that because of the MRSA I am scared my premium would be greatly increased. She asked me what MRSA is and I began to explain my symptoms. She said she has been getting these huge "sebatious cysts" on her thighs and bikini line for years and that they are like huge pimples that form a whitehead and feel like glass is under her skin. She went on to say that her Dr. gives her Bactroban and puts her on an antibiotic each time. She also has them incised and drained and then packed. I was like - "uh, that pretty much sounds exactly like what I have" and needless to say she started freaking out.
I've been lucky so far in that I haven't had to have the boils cut out of my skin but believe me I'm not delusional in the fact that it could happen at any time. But then I started thinking that wait a minute - she has been living with these for years and years and doesn't even know about MRSA. She deals with them and then they clear up and while she knows that eventually another will pop up she pretty much goes about her life without worry (well she did until now and I feel terrible about it.) So I'm thinking why in the world am I going nuts all the time with worry. I think the term "MRSA" just sounds so scary and the fact that it is so contagious is very worrisome. I guess if I was told that for the rest of my life I would have to deal with getting painful cysts every few months and that I should just go to the dr. and get them treated, I could be ok with that. But knowing I have MRSA (gasp) is like living every day in constant fear that I won't recover from whatever illness I come down with, be it internal, external or whatever.
Anyway, I'm just trying to live each day thanking God that I'm not infected today and being grateful that so far my children haven't had any problems. I have to say that of all of the dr.'s visits and even the medication, nothing has made me feel better than having this group to talk to when things in my head start getting crazy. GG, Ross, VN and many others- you are all as important to me as my dr.s are in dealing with having MRSA. Thank you all so much for reaching out every time i'm in need and affecting me in such a positive way. Just wanted to throw that in there. I really appreciate all of you very very much. God Bless and I hope the outbreaks don't come back for any of us for 100 years!
If you read my original post "How we healed a cavity wound" you will see that my son was in your situation with MRSA last year (he is 25) In and out of the hospital and potent antibiotics and still he had a large cavity wound that would not heal and was so sick. He has now been MRSA free for several months and gained back all his lost weight. Working full time and going to school full time. You CAN get rid of MRSA. Please read my posts and feel free to contact me if you want.
A healthy diet also helps.
