Staph infections are infections caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus. They include skin infections, pneumonia, blood poisoning, toxic shock syndrome, and food poisoning. Infection can happen through contact, especially if you have open wounds. Most infections are treatable with antibiotics. If you have been infected with staph, join the group for support and advice.

Of course, if you haven't had it for a long time, it may be best to just get back on antibiotics as well, if you can afford it, especially since this is a very very delicate area that's infected. I, too, had a HORRIBLE response to sulfa-based antibiotics and the doctor put me on doxycycline instead, which didn't seem to bother my skin as much.
Good luck :( you'll get through this!!!! Mine has definitely gotten better over time and started to taper off quite a bit. Also, I start to pound pure cranberry juice when i get them....get it from trader joes and mix it with water to dillute it. Seriously works better for me than any drug they could give me.
