Motherless Daughters Community Group
For any daughter who has lost their mother, whether through Death (if it's been one day ago or 40 years ago) or Abandonment, (i.e.-drug abuse, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, etc.) and is working through the grief process. This group provides unconditional support and understanding from women who have also lost their Moms and who truly care.
Hugs, Nat
I am so sorry that you lost your mom at such a young age.
My mother passed away at age 60 and I was 39.
My mother suffered from depression and had many break downs (mental break downs) so event hough she was alive there were times I dint feel I had a mother. It was usually a role change. I had to act like her mother and it didnt seem fair but I would take her back on her worst day!!! In a heart beat.
I miss her so much
Nat, is right there are other women who have lost their mother at a young age like you and hopefully you can connect with them as well as with all of us!!

My mom passed away 7.5 months ago at 49yrs old. Iam 27. I agree with Nat- My mother was heaven sent and the best mom in the world. I cant really say I "cope"- I go through days when I stay on this website ALL day and others I cant even log in. It hurts to much. I guess all I can say that has helped me is keeping a journal with all my thoughts. I can speak to my family pretty openly but sometimes you just dont want to talk. They do help somewhat tho. Its like we all lost the same person but she was very different to each of us, she played a different role.
Cal, you're so right on how our mom's are so different to each of us. She does, indeed, play a different role for each child.
I won't tell my age - let's just say I'm "over 40" and Mama died at age 99. But she had me late in life, so my age will hard for your to figure. My age and Mama's has been an aggravation when people try to tell me how I should or shouldn't grieve, since Mama lived a long life.
The heartbreak in your case is not having truly known/lived a life with your mother. And for that, I'm so sorry. But it doesn't matter how many years. The longer the life/time together, the greater the loss sometimes. You might say I react like a child and not an adult over her passing. I don't always cope. Mama's passing left the greatest void in my life. I'm alone and empty and not sure from one day to another. For someone my age, that's saying alot since I'm supposed to be mature about it. It's not how it's affected my life - I'm beginning to think she WAS my life.
died giving birth to my younger brother. I have a sister 7 years older
than me and another brother; 5 years older than me. Our mother died
right before my older brother entered the first grade. He did not
speak for a full year. The teachers had no idea how to deal with him;
back in those days. My Dad just spanked him. My sister was going into
the third grade when our mother died. My Dad's parents took my baby
brother home from the hospital and raised him for the first two years.
I was farmed out to various babysitters, while my older brother and
sister were in school. My mother left us with an abusive alcoholic
father. Our lives were "hell" without her there to care for us.
I have never known any other woman who lost their mother at such a young age too. Coping is hard regardless of the situation. It took me years to learn to start to deal with my mothers' death. Now, I am thankful for the few memories I have and hang on to them as tight as possible. Some days are harder than others still. It has been over 35 years since she has died.
I was 37 when my mum passed away, and she was 63....she passed in 2006.Just this week had her second anniversary. And now facing her forthcoming birthday...
