This is my first period post m/c in January and it's by far the worst! I started cramping a week before even starting! I usually just cramp on the first day and that's it. I'm on my third day and the cramps are still strong and so is the bleeding. It usually lets up around this time but it hasn't so far. And also my back is KILLING me! Has any one else had a horrible period post m/c???

I am in the same situation, I am also third day of my first AF after m/c. My back and cramps have been bad now for over a week prior. I was actually hoping that the pain was that of implantation...so wrong which makes this even worse. I have heard from others that the first couple AF are very heavy and painful but go back to normal once your hormones normalize. I also think the pain is more intense for me because i do have cyst on both my ovaries from the m/c that are most likely not gone yet.

Oh my, yes. After my first m/c my first period was shocking! Never had I had a period so heavy! I would soak through a super tampon in about 15 minutes. I finally bought some of those massive pads to wear and during the night time I leaked everywhere all over the bed and sheets. Never had I done that before. It was awful! I was afraid they would all of my periods would be like that but they weren't, my body has since returned to normal. And after my 2nd m/c I had a heavy first period again but since then they have all been normal again with no cramps. Hang in there! Sorry you're feeling so poorly right now!

Yeah this AF has been a witch....what is it about the cysts??? Cause I have been having sharp pains in my ovaries since around the time I ovulated...is that normal? Oh and a knot in my lower abdomen on the right side. All women have cysts on their ovaries after a m/c? And they are just temporary??? Sorry but I haven't heard about that but I've been thinking that I have cysts cause I've been hurting. I even made an appt but I had to cancel it cause of AF.

My first AF wasn't too heavy or abnormal that way but it did hang on forever! I'm usually 5 days from very beginning to end and it hung on for 10 days! I was concernec because we wanted to start trying and I was still having light bleeding. When I called the docotr he said there is no normal the first time and to go ahead and TTC and not to miss the month because of it. Hope this helps a little. About the cysts- I also was having some pain and at my drs visit he said he could feel a cyst. Is this normal for women after a miscarriage? At times it can really hurt! What do they do for it?

Yes, mine was the same, lots of pain, backache etc for about a week before and then lots of bleeding when it arrived. Hoping my next one will be more normal xx

I think though that having your period post m/c is somewhat a good sign that your body is trying to get back to normal. I guess I could worry if I never got AF...cause I know some women who don't after a m/c and have to take Provera or something to induce it. I know I ovulated too cause I've been taking my temps. I ovulated on CD 26, which is a little longer than usual, but hey at least I did. I've heard that once you get pregnant though, your ovaries swell or something like that happens to them where they won't release eggs anymore since you're already pregnant I don't know if this is the case or not. My appt is next Wednesday so hopefully I will get some answers. AF is starting to let up some today so I figure she will be gone within a day or two. :) Since I had a good cycle I would think my body is ready so we can ttc again. I will see what the dr thinks...

Oh Gosh yes. The doctor explained to me that it was because the body was flushing everything out. I had a D&C both times I had a miscarriage and because they usually can't clean everything out the first period is horrible. I was told it might take a couple of periods for my body to start acting the way it used to before everything happened.

I am still on my first period post m/c and it first started on Feb 18. So I totally understand your frustration. I have bad cramps today and blood is still coming..... man.... Is this ever going to end... Just stinks!!!

Wow maybe you should go to the OB. I don't think you should be bleeding like that if it's your period unless you had an incomplete miscarriage and your passing the rest of the stuff now. When I m/c it was like a really heavy period but with tissue, clots, and horrible cramps. My period started 3/5 and usually my period is 4 or 5 days long with med flow...first day being spotting, second day heavy bleeding, third and fourth day spotting again. This period I started off heavy and bled heavily for three days and it's just now letting up some. I might be off by tomorrow. ( I hope ) But this period I had more cramping on my sides where my ovaries are than above my hairline...i don't know how else to explain it. And I also I went to use number two ( tmi ) today and I had like a pinching pain between my jay- jay and my belly button and it didn't go away for like an hour... :/ I don't know what could have caused that but I'm goin to mention it to the OB next wednesday.
