I'm tired of hearing that I'm high risk because I'm 35. What the heck IS high risk? I've already miscarried Aug. 13, but I want to know if it was because I was "high risk" or not. It kind of makes me afraid of trying again, but I REALLY want a baby now that I've experienced the feelings and joy of pregnancy. Open to advice.

I'm 43 and neither my OB nor my RE have ever described me as "high risk". My sister was considered high risk because she has a chronic illness and had to take medication during her pregnancy. I've heard women referred to as "high risk" who have diabetes, who are cancer survivors, that kind of thing.

I got pregnant with IVF and unfortunately miscarried in August as well. I am a good responder to stims, my eggs appear very healthy, I am very healthy. Statistically, older women conceive with more difficulty and have an increased risk of miscarriage, I understand that. But saying you're "high risk" BECAUSE you're 35 seems reductive especially if you are otherwise healthy. Wishing you lots of success in your baby journey.

It's got to be more than your age. I would ask your doctor specifically why you are "high risk", aside from your age. I've had three miscarriages and lost one child to birth defects, and yet I am still not considered "high risk", so I don't understand exactly how they come to that conclusion. I am only 29 years old.
