Uggg working with the public makes everything so much harder. Not only do you have your regular coworkers to deal with, but then regular customers, or just customers who are either trying to be nice, or dont know your situation and say things that would normally be regular conversation, but will cut straight through your heart. I know how you feel. Tonight will be my first night back to work (I only work 4 hours a week in a grocery store) since I lost my son on May 7th. I am dreading it and have been physically ill all morning already. I just dont want to see anyone, or hear anyone say anything that will make me upset. Its not right for yur boss to be mad at you. I'm sorry that your going through this. Its bad enough to be hurting, but then to have people be upset with you for your emotions, just makes it harder. I'll be thinking about you tonight when I go back to work too. Hopefully we can get through it together.

I work in a creche and just had to deal with a heavily pregnant woman complaining about how awful it is being heavily pregnant. I just had my first miscarriage 2 weeks ago after trying for 4 years. I don't think I need to say anymore. I feel your pain.

In my in-person support group I have a woman who's lost back to back sets of twins in week 23... she answers that question by saying "not at home" and then politely walks away. I haven't gotten that question as of yet, but I do plan on saying something similar when asked. I have one angel baby.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I read a book that suggested to come up with responses ahead of time to questions like that so that you don't get caught off guard. It's very simple advice, but I think it can help in some situations.

It is terribly hard to deal with, especially when it's not been long or it's the first time you've been with people who don't know. I agree that coming up with responses before they are asked helps, you know you have a response then rather than being put on that painful spot.

I say, 'I've not been blessed with them yet' it lets people know that I want them so they don't push on it to hard and yet deals with it sensitively. That's what I found anyway.

Perhaps your manager could find a way of allowing you to be out of the firing line with guests until you are ready. If your manager is there perhaps they can steer the conversation away from the joys of children. Being mad won't help anyone but perhaps suggest to them how to deal with it.

In my experience people don't always know how to deal with it or what to do for the best, have a frank conversation with them and let them know what will help you.

Your children are no less important than anyone else's. Be proud to say, "Yes, I am a mom."

I get asked that question all the time by people that don't know my situation or know that I've had a miscarriage. What hurts me the worse is when they say, "as old as you are, you must don't want them." People don't understand how much it hurts when you want kids and everything you've been through because of medical reasons. And you don't want people all in your personal business so it's hard trying to answer that question and be polite at the same time.
