It has been a year or so since I have been on this forum...to our surprise three weeks ago I did a pregnancy test and found that we are pregnant....after TTC for 7 years....we adopted last year and my periods suddenly became regular. The pregnancy now is not progressing properly. The HCG numbers should double and they are not...last week they were 200...then 500, I began to spot and was called in on Tuesday... The number was 1400 then 2100 and today at 3000... The numbers are rising but not doubling...so I had an ultra sound today and there is no fetal pole or empty sac. My tubes appear to be clear...now I am really sacred! I could handle an ectopic pregnancy...but I am sacred that it could mean cancer.
I do not know where to turn for advice. Has anyone experience this?

How Incorrect Dates Can Explain Lack of a Fetal Pole
Although miscarriage is one possibility, the other possibility is that your pregnancy is simply not far enough along to see a fetal pole on an ultrasound. The fetal pole becomes visible in a transvaginal ultrasound somewhere between 5 to 6 weeks of gestational age, but any small error in dating the pregnancy can throw that off because the early pregnancy development varies so much from one day to the next.
I'm not sure how far along you are. I really hope things turn around in your favor. I just said a prayer for you.
They found the gestational sac on my lower cervix. Now I am just waiting for the medication to work to expell the pregnancy. Apparently this is a bad ectopic pregnancy because if the medication does not work then I will have to get a hysterectomy. Praying that it will end soon and that my little angel is in heaven.
