new, first, first* timer :( advice??

Hello ladies, I know this isn't a group that any one of us want to b apart of. This is my first pregnancy. I am 23. I am so confused and so lost. I went for my very first ultra sound Thursday and there was no heart beat. I know I do.t have to explain what that feels like or the emotions and thoughts that followed. But I'm not bleeding! No fever, no vomiting. I've been having sharp pains, mainly on my lower right side. Before a d&c is done I am requesting a second ultra sound. That will be Tuesday. I am 10wks today according to the books. My babys growth says I am 9wks and 2 days.

After non stop crying and sleeplessness I am curious. Is it possible that a heart beat was not detected bc of my baby's positioning? Have any of you went through that and it was the case? I'm just cramping! That's it! If I misscarried 5 days ago shouldn't I be bleeding? I know this is probably hopefull and wishfull thinking. But I know we all want to see the silver lining in this situation. I'm just looking for hope

I am sorry you too are going through this. I know anything is possible and truly believe miracles do happen, but unfortunately in my experience, no heartbeat found at this age is not a good sign. My last MC was in 2009 at 10 weeks..which I believe the age of our baby showed that we had lost him around 8 and a half weeks. He stopped growing and his heart had stopped. I started to mc at 10 weeks, but did have a DnC. It can take time for the body to react. In all sincerity I do hope and pray you are an exception. Please let us know what happens and know a lot of us are here to support and listen and help when we can. Take care and you will be in my thoughts.

Well I've already heard the worse news possible so it can't get any worse. It can only get better. Wether it gets better Tuesday or my next atempt.

Leaann, I'm so sorry. Waiting and not knowing for sure is so hard. I had no signs of miscarriage when I went in for my 8 wk US. Actually, I felt great! Now I know that's a bad sign. I never bled between the US showing no heartbeat and my d&c a week later. The doctor ordered blood tests to check hcg levels. They actually didn't decrease much. They told me I had a missed miscarriage,and it may have taken weeks for my body to recognize it and terminate the pregnancy naturally.

Im sorry your going through this. I went in for my 9 week appointment and they did an ultra sound and there was no heartbeat. I had no signs that anything was wrong. I felt fine, my lab work came back normal but for some reason there was no heart beat. I had a D&C done 2 days later and they tested it and found that the baby had a complete extra set of chromosomes. I hope that everything will be fine. were here if you need us.

I was told I had a missed miscarriage over 4 weeks ago at my 11 week ultrasound. The baby's heart stopped beating at approximately 8.5 weeks and I had no signs of miscarriage. Not even for the following week I waited to have the d&c.

I read another post you made and I'm happy to hear that your husband is being so supportive and that you two are pulling closer together.
