needing to vent a little...

m/c 12/05/06 & edd was 6/23/07. haven't had a pap in too long & went to same dr who was my ob for it yesterday. i scheduled my appt late in the day hoping not to run into many ob patients & amazingly the waiting room was empty. still the same baby pics in the exam room but i was ok. when my dr came in, she asked how i had been and how the baby was. i couldn't even speak. just had what i'm sure was a horrified look on my face and shook my head. then she looked at my file and i know she felt bad. all i could think was...yeah, most of the ladies you see do end up on the other end with their precious babies. i felt ripped off all over again. thanks for letting me get this out. i know my family and friends didn't know what to say when i m/c and i'm sure they think i should just be over it by now. it's comforting to know that there's a place i can go where (unfortunately) all of us understand. bless you all.

I have been where you are and being as darn educated as they are you think a DR would know to look , or at least glance at the damn chart BEFORE they enter the room.

Wow! They really need to have a look before they say something like that. I'm so sorry. I really understand how it is to have the wound ripped open again. I just went to my gyne recently...and they are going paperless. So, I had to go thru my whole medical history. My favorite was saying that I'd been pregnant three times...the nurse, without even looking at me, said, "And no living children." I took a deep breath and said, "Yes, no living children." UGH! And it all comes flooding back. Doesn't matter how long it has been.

Hi Kris. That is just awful and would make me switch doctors. They have to be more sensitive and know their patients. That's their job dammitt!!!! I am very lucky. My doctor always remembers. The office nurses don't but I don't feel a connection with them. My doc is very sensitive and always asks first how I am feeling before getting into the nitty gritty of tests results, advice of where to go from here, etc ( I have had two miscarriages in the past 10 months). I am so grateful for her. We live in New York City right now and are moving to NJ at the beginning of the year. I am considering still going to her still even if I have to come into the city. Anyhow, for you, I would be inclined to find a doctor who knows you and will not make such assanine remarks. That's just my two cents. I got angry for you when I read the message as I know I would have just died.

Yes, that pisses me off too. Any doctor with an ounce of professionalism should look at the chart first.

In my own experience I've found that as much as I loved my OB, any not-so-pleasant or questionable things she said to me were in the afternoon, I guess she was a morning person. No excuse for not checking a chart first.!

I've been there too - last year when I had my first miscarriage I had to go into hospital afterwards to have the placenta removed as it wouldn't come out by itself - not only had I been thought the trauma of losing my baby but then a nurse comes in and asked me when I was due and what I was in for - my hubby went mad. I guess everyone makes silly mistakes, they just need to look at patient files before seeing them. This si the place to be for support - my friends and family are wonderful at everthing but dealing with my mc's so massive hug and I promise I know how you feel

DEAR, I AM HERE FOR YOU!

MY M/C WAS 18 YEARS AGO AND 21 YEARS AGO....BUT AS MY GRANDSON WAS BORN LAST FRIDAY - A HAPPY OCCASSION, I FOUND MYSELF DEPRESSED AND CRAVING TO HAVE MY OWN CHILD AGAIN.

I HAD TO HAVE AN EMERGENY HISTORECTOMY LAST AUGUST (A YEAR TO THE DATE MY GRANDSON WAS BORN) AFTER 7 YEARS OF TRYING FOR ANOTHER CHILD.

PLEASE LET ME BE THERE FORE YOU! IT HELPS TO TALK ABOUT IT, "YOU JUST DON'T GET OVER IT, WITH TIME YOU LEARN HOW TO LIVE WITH IT" - A STATEMENT A WISE NURSE TOLD ME AS I WENT THROUGH MY LAST M/C 18 YEARS AGO. SHE ALSO SAID, GOD DOES NOT PUT YOU THROUGH SOMETHING HE DOES NOT EXPECT YOU TO USE..I HAVE HELPED MANY LADIES WITH THEIR GRIEF DUE TO LOSS OF CHILDREN. I AM HERE FOR YOU!
