Miscarriage Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have experienced the traumatizing event of a miscarriage or a stillbirth. Miscarriage remains one of the most common complication of pregnancy, but that doesn't make it easy to deal with. Join the group and find support in the company of others who know what you're going through.
It was written in the discharge papers that I was supposed to schedule one. But it's always so emotionally traumatic for me to have to go back to that building, etc.
This was my third miscarriage. So I knew by now if there were no "issues" going on....this followup was more for their liability than anything else.
I had a followup after the D&C for my first miscarriage. It was also laparoscopic though because they were doing exploratory surgery for an ectopic. So I did go to that followup.
And I did have a consult (non-exam) with the RE several weeks after my most recent D&C. He didn't even blink about the fact that I didn't show up for a true followup.
What I've done is I've taken pregnancy tests (though I know that can be emotionally traumatic too). And it will show positive in the week or two after the D&C.
But then eventually it should go to negative. Mine did. Which indicates there is no pregnancy tissue left...no ongoing hcg levels.
The RE's office told me I could do that a few weeks after my first miscarriage because I was tired of going through the emotional trauma of weekly hcg draws after the loss.
Anyway.....I've had 3 miscarriages---2 that required a D&C and for each one....I got my period exactly 28 days after the D&Cs.
So it is very likely that the spotting you are seeing is your oncoming period. That's just my guess.
Though I haven't ever had constant spotting since the D&C like you are describing but that doesn't mean it's abnormal.
Usually I will spot for 10 days and then it stops. And then 18 or so days later I get a period.
Oftentimes (but maybe not always?) if there truly is pregnancy tissue left behind.......there would be other red flag symptoms. LIke lightheadedness....among other things.
But of course I'm not a dr. so I'm only speaking from my experience and from what I've read of others' experiences.
I have to remember to tell myself that it takes as long as it takes.
