Military Families Support Group
Today's military family faces a lifestyle that is comprised of frequent deployments, which results in increased family separations. This often proves to be a stressful challenge for military families. This community is dedicated to the families that are dealing with the unique challenges of distance and military-related stress.
I'm currently a mom to a almost 5 month old little girl. She's my absolute world and I couldn't be happier to have her. My husbands currently deployed. He left a week prior to her birth and has only been able to contact through video chat twice. Homecoming is coming up this summer and I'm nervous. My husband has high hopes about returning home and seeing his little girl for the first time. She's started to hit the stranger stage where she cries when she's being held by strangers to her. I don't know how to reassure him that it's normal and it'll take time for her to get to know him. Also, I have issues with my in-laws. I was living with them before he'd left and soon after he left life just went to hell in a hand basket at that house and it wasn't the best enviorment for me and my newborn. When I left relationships between them and myself blew up and we have next to no contact at all currently. I'm unsure of how it's going to be once my husband returns home. I really think that time he first comes home should be spent just the three of us so he has plenty of time to bond with his daughter and get to know her without anyone else butting in. I know his family will disagree I'm just struggling to accept that his return might go in a direction I really don't want it to. It's suppose to be a special time for our family to be whole again and I don't want it to be tarnished by any negativity.
