Military Families Support Group
Today's military family faces a lifestyle that is comprised of frequent deployments, which results in increased family separations. This often proves to be a stressful challenge for military families. This community is dedicated to the families that are dealing with the unique challenges of distance and military-related stress.

I don't often post much on here but I'm finding myself a bit stuck lately. Does anyone know anything about the Exceptional Family Member Program? My husband is in the Navy and I've been enrolled in the EFMP for about a year now. Other than being reassured that his file is flagged due to my illness and that we will always be living near a facility where I can receive adequate care, I cant' find anything else out. I have looked online and it seems like most of the support and resources are geared toward children and families with children enrolled in the EFMP. I think that's great, but where does that leave someone like me? I've also been to our local Fleet & Family Support center and they told me the Navy offers no resources and that I have to look in the civilian sector. Without going too much into my condition I can simply say that I do not require nursing care at this time (that right there limits what resources may be out there) but I do have certain limitations that will require me to need help when my husband deploys this fall...and for that matter, while he is gone for extended lenghts of time out to sea over the summer. It's very frustrating to think that I have asked and asked for help and simply some phone numbers or the like to contact people who maybe able to assist me and I keep getting told there is nothing to be done and no one to even talk to me.
Sorry to ramble but frustration tends to do that to me :)

I'm just trying to figure out if they offer any kind of assistance other than nursing care, which I do not need. I will be having to do everything around here myself while he is gone and I do have limitations on what I am allowed to lift and things of that nature. I was given a brochure after I enrolled which basically outlines things but that's all. He's been gone for a bit over a week (just a short trip this time) and already things are getting hard for me to do so I worry when deployment comes. In any event, he is leaving it all on me so I'm just trying to exhaust all possibilities before I give up :)
