I'm on disability for migraines. It is very difficult to get because migraines is not on the list of disorders that gets approved for disability. I was approved the first time around, but I had so much documentation. I go to the Jefferson headache center in Philadelphia. I'm there every 6 weeks. Every time I go, I have to fill out a questionnaire about what I can and cannot do, my social life before migraines, and now with migraines, it covers everything. I've been filling out those forms since 2006. Plus, my headache specialist had to fill out a bunch of forms stating why he believes I am disabled because of my migraines. So basically, my file was as thick as a book. It talked about every drug I was ever treated with, every therapy, etc.

I too am on Disability for Migraines but I've also had Chiari Malformation surgery that was unsuccessful, and made my migraines worse. I found an advocate that helped us complete the paperwork for disability and got approved with the first submission. Once a year, my pain doctor has to complete a questionaire for me, stating why I am unable to work.

It took years, but I am on disability for migraines. The court hired some sort of vocational expert and he testified that I could not perform my profession (computer programmer) with migraines.

I have been on disability for migraines with vertigo for 20 yrs. It is definitely hard to get but I did receive it right away since I could not perform my job. I was a secretary and could not read, type or anything with my dizziness. I had cervical fusion surgery in my neck with hopes of that helping but no benefit at all. I've been to at least 10 neurologists and none have been able to help me. I don't get on this page much at all since my vertigo is so bad. Today I thought I'd take a peek and see what was on here. I've been on so many different medications over the years. Have tried all alternative methods along with most meds. I have a new neurologist who has me on cymbalta and we just added neurontin. So far no benefit but I'm trying to be hopeful. I'm basically housebound. This all started when I was 40 yrs. of age. It's totally changed my life. I see a therapist because it can get quite depressing living this way daily. I'm trying to stay positive but it's so difficult when you're in pain and dizzy every day. It's quite scary that they haven't found an answer to this problem yet. Best of luck to all.

I have been fighting with SSDI for a couple of years now.

My lawyer (if you don't have one, I highly recommend you get a decent one) seems confident that I will win my case... eventually. He's very upbeat and never gets down when SSDI sends Form Rejection Letter #X. Its very nice to have someone who can tell you that its normal for them to reject you for given reason X.

All I can say is hang in there, and if you have, or can find a doctor who will back you, even better ^.^
