Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Also just to throw it out there sometimes docs are dopes when it come to migraines and you have to compare it to something more tangible to them. A perfect example is my last ER visit when I had whiplash... the docs weren't going to give me anything until I said "My head feels worse than my concussion from '06" Then it took less than two minutes for a nurse to come in with something.
My mother, whom is a nurse, explained that most doctors can't take the zero to ten pain scale seriously when ten is the worst pain of your life. People constantly say it's a ten. Persistance is key I guess.
As for the feeling like you're having a stoke, oh boy have I been there. I had a migraine for 3 days, it went away and came back in the snap of a finger. I had a head cold at the time and for some reason one of my tonsils was swollen. Needless to say when it hit me I thought I was going to die, but in my paniced state I stayed sitting quietly as I was at a friend's.
