Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
My sinus headaches go into migraines and go across the forehead and really hurt. They will make bone around my eyes hurt. The microwaved moist heat pads feel good on my sinus headache/migraine. Nothing makes the sinus headache/migraine go away until I am on the antibiotic for a few days.
Like Sped said, a doctor can talk to you about your situation.
1. Do a Google search of the medication you were on to determine side effects
2. Contact your pharmacist and ask him
3. Sometimes migraine is a combination of things like caffeine withdrawal and something you ate or the change in barametric pressure.
4. Try to think of any changes you have had. It could be something as simple as a new kind of lunchmeat (happened to me).
2. Also, WATCH OUT for chocolate in holiday food. People delight in using all types of different ingredients in them and not disclosing what they use and I have to be careful because chocolate gives me a Molotov Cocktail explosive type hormone that can put me in the Hospital Emergency Room. Some people finely shave chocolate into their food and it can be hard to tell it is in there. I tell everyone that I am highly allergic to chocolate and I just received home-made cookies from a friend and half of them contain chocolate and she has been REPEATEDLY TOLD that I am highly allergic to chocolate. As I dissected what looked like a plain cookie, I found it had very tiny flecks of chocolate in it--to me it was a dangerous cookie because the chocolate wasn't obvious. ALL THE COOKIES SHE GAVE ME went in the trash and right out to the dumpster because I could trust none of them. It made me mad, but I got over it. A long time ago at a dinner where I advised the hostess well in advance that I couldn't eat anything chocolate because of allergy, I was assured it was okay and I was served a chocolate cheesecake with chocolate cookie crust for desert. I didn't eat it. DUH--like I was supposed to just ignore it. No way.
3. Wine and alcohol are also migraine triggers for me. I can refuse that served in glasses, but people are using them in sauces and in recipes and vanity sometimes doesn't allow them to state their secret ingredient. This is a problem for me. I don't go to these dinners.
4. Potpourri: I have found that people (and some work places) are putting potpourri in bathrooms. It doesn't mean much until you close and lock the door to use the room and you are stuck in there with it. Some of it just gives me a migraine.
So think about what you have been doing over the past few days. Have you been in contact with any of this? Have you been eating any homemade cookies that may have hidden ingredients? Have you been eating leftovers from a dinner and it may have hidden ingredients? Just some things to consider. Many hugs.
