Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.

Hello friends,
I have a history of migraine, for approx. 35 years, they come every 8 - 10 weeks, lasting about 10 hours. I am now 57 yrs old, past menopause so baffled why I have this cycle of migraine. My neuro stated that hormones can still change, but I find it peculiar that my migraines have not reason or rhyme, for not better words. I take foricet as needed, which takes the edge off and have just learned to live with the excruciating pain as well as anxiety I get with my migraines. I also have episodes of severe sensitivity to light to the point I had to just sit and close my eyes. My neuro stated it was a form of optic migraine, that disorder comes and goes.
At any rate, my main concern I come to you with is this, I also have a history of ringing hears, (tinnitus) for the most part of my life, but on the most part has always been tolerable.
However, about 3 years ago I had a bad bout of tinnitus, so severe and it did not let up. I saw ENT, my neuro and family dr. All said, there was nothing I could do for the tinnitus, there is no cure, and it usually is not from a serious disease. It did let up a great deal after about 6 months and I also adjusted a bit too. Then 3 weeks ago, one day at work my ears started ringing really bad again, I could hardly concentrate, it has been bad ever since, causing me great anxiety.
I saw my ENT again, last week, he stated my ears are ok, that there is nothing I can do but deal with it.
He said that migraine sufferers tend to have bouts of tinnitus and since I have migraines and been under stress for new job, long hours I am prone to have ringing in my ears.
The ringing is worse upon awaking, but is a high humming, hissing noise through out the day, sometimes it is worse then other times, but always there.
The only way I can describe it is if you ever get really sick, or really overtired and your head kind of hums, that is how I feel.
My ears also ring when I have a migraine or after, but it always tones down the next day.
Any support, suggestions is welcome...
Thanks Pattylyn

Hi... I was just looking for support groups and came across this site. I was just diagnosed with NHL specifically Folicular Lymphoma (Large B-Cell type) and I guess it would just be nice to talk to people who have been through this. I'm 28 F and I'm a new mom, my life has changed drastically in the last two years and now this diagnosis has really gotten me down...I had a CT scan done last week...
As for the tinnitus, I know a few people on this forum have that. If you go back a few pages on this forum, there is a post on it. I don't think there is much you can do about it. The only thing I would suggest is to google it and see what others have done to deal with the tinnitus.
Good luck!
In time you will not notice it as much.Try going to sleep with something that produces white noise. I usually run an air filter that helps to drown out the tinnitus. When it is quiet, I almost always play music to distract me from the constant ringing.
No medications have ever helped me with the tinnitus. Some have even made it worse.
Be well.
