Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I have had a 24/7 migraine since being struck by a drunk driver 4 years ago. I take meds to keep it manageable, but its always there....
A couple things I do when it keeps out of control are:
ice is a huge! I putan ice pack on the back of my neck.
If the ice doesn't work I use my TENS unit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcutaneous_electrical_nerve_stimulation
I put the electrodes on my neck and it really does help with the migraine pain.
Best wishes for you

They aren't sure why I have them, I have a few ideas why, one they run in my family, two I have PCOS(poly cystic ovarian syndrome) which can mess with your hormones so that makes sense. Also, I was in a car accident about 2 years ago and they have gotten a bit worse since then, I was seeing a chiropractor and that seemed to really help, but I could only go for a year with insurance company paying for it.
Have you tried going to the chiropractor? Or maybe massage, or acupuncture? I have yet to try acupuncture but I have heard it works really well for people who have migraines.
Thank you for your advice! I hope you feel better soon!
Andrea
I think a chiropractor who knows how to deal with migraine patients is a definite help. I go to a chiropractor who helps a lot!!!! It's better than pumping medicine into your body.
