Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I think regular exercise can also help prevent migraines. So, it's finding a personal balance that works for you. Personally I have more risk of migraines with exercise if I let myself get overheated or if I'm pushing myself more than usual.
. A migraine is a vascular headache. I have one yesterday and today :(
Regular exercise, which for me includes walking and jogging and some strength training at the gym. I definately experience migraines when I don't keep up a regular exercise routine. I have also noticed that when I do participate in regular exercise, I may have a mild migraine for the monthly pms headache OR NO MIGRAINE at all!!! That is a huge incentive to exercise!! And obviously I have a negative consequence for not exercising! Like now... I have also discovered foods loaded with chemicals increases severity and frequency of migraines. That was also my mistake this time. I ate chips n dip, popcorn and other processed food at work. These processed foods can also contribute to congestion/ allergy problems. For me it does. I don't ever go to the ER seeking narcotics. I do take over-the-counter medication and drink lots of water in case of possible dehydration and nourish my body with natural and organic foods. I also have been treating this resistant migraine with a drink of lime juice and a good water throughout the day. It is starting to clear up. I also enjoyed a nice walk this morning :)
I think it important to nourish your body, give it good circulation and energy along with immune system support through physical activities, and to give it adequate rest. Also be careful of alcohol. That can also trigger migraines. By paying attention to good health practices, migraines can be better managed or even eliminated :)
Take care of yourself :)
