Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Just last Thursday, I had an aura all day, and the headache didn't come till Friday late afternoon.
I feel I suffer auras because I am on so much medicine and treatment for the migraine pain. I take a high dose of Topamax (300mg), a muscle relaxer, Cymbalta, Trazodone for sleep, and I get Botox injections.
My aura symptoms are: major confusion, talking backwords, or saying the wrong words, fatigue, light headed, difficulty concentrating, sensitivity to loud sounds and bright lights. And, an overall feeling of "yucky".
I don't know why I get Auras!
I get crazy eye "floaters", my vision tunnels, and I just get sort of confused.
All of this tells me to take my medicine, and climb into bed because a migraine is around the corner.
Last year I discovered the chiropractor and it was the best thing I could have done. I has reduced my migraines from 4 to 5 a month to once every few months, and even when I get them theya re not as sever.
It also clued me in to my pro-drome symptoms (the potential phase before an aura) ie excessive yawning, frequent urination and mood swings. Totally have those too!
