Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Did you know that oral contraceptives increase your risk of stroke significantly if you have migraine with aura? I had no idea about this at all, and I only found out by happenstance at the OB GYN today! Here's what happened...
I went in to the OB GYN for my annual exam as usual. During the exam, I asked if it's possible that I could be going through a hormonal shift because my migraines have been flaring like crazy. She had NO idea that I had migraine with aura. When she found out, she was a bit horrified and told me that I had to stop my oral contraceptives at the end of my pack. End of discussion. No ifs, ands or buts. She explained that oral contraceptives containing estrogen are STRICTLY contraindicated in the case of migraine with aura due to stroke risk!
So here this whole time, I have been taking these pills having no clue that I was putting myself at risk. I never even thought to mention my migraines to my OB GYN, and I've already got a few risk factors sitting in my corner. I figure maybe some of you are in the same boat I am, so I thought I'd pass along the good word.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I continued taking the pill because my periods are totally unpredictable without and then too became my migraines. It was a choice I had to make.
My doctor who treats my migraines also prescribes the pill and gives me low estrogen, higher progesterin type.

We use condoms, however, I'm considering a tubal ligation.
