Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I was recently prescribed DHE injectable. However, my neurologist didn't give me any info on how to inject myself. I thought I'd get that info at the pharmacy, and while the pharmacist did give me some good advice, they also said that I should have been instructed on this by the doctor (or doctor's office).
I've injected cats and mice. I don't know if I can inject myself, especially without any training. I've emailed my doctor a few times and she hasn't given much response in how I would go about getting trained on injecting myself. I'm also not allowed to have Fiornal anymore because I was using it more than 3 times a week when I didn't have anything else to take for my headaches. I'm now on neurontin for preventative, which seems to work but makes me dizzy when I try to go for walks, and I'm thinking the walking is important since I'm already overweight & the neurontin can cause weight gain. Regarding the dizziness, the doc said "it would stop once I get used to the meds".
I'm tempted to go to yet another neurologist. Lately, the only doctor I'm happy with in my medical group is the OB/GYN and I've only seen her once. Any advice? thanks in advance.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? I would call the neurologist's office until you get an answer. If that means twice a day, call twice a day. Or ask for the person's name you are speaking to and ask when you might expect a call THEN call HER BACK when you haven't heard anything.
As far as another doctor - I would not hijack this doctor yet. But you really do need a doctor who will respond when you need help.
Check out the credentials and if you can find someone better go for it if not then hang in there. I< would want the best doctor even if you have to pester them.
If this continues, check around for another doctor.
Your doctor really does owe you the service of showing you how to inject, or prescribing a nasal DHE.
