Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
Your story sounds very similar to a few other people in this group. I know some did have doctors tell them that there was nothing more they could do. It makes me very mad when I hear that.
I'm a chronic daily migraine person also. I go to the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia every 6 weeks. My doctor is determined not to give up on me. I asked him not to give up on me. He told me I am one of his hardest cases he's ever had
We do understand where you are, and how bad it can be. Just don't give up hope. There ARE other treatments out there. So just don't give up.
So, what was the outcome of your doctor's visit? What is the next course of action they would like to try? I'm curious to know & how encouraged do you feel that there is still hope for your painful, uncomfortable migraines. Well, I'm here if you want to chat because I completely understand the struggle. Hope all is well!
I've suffered for years too. I have been to numerous doctors (Neurologists, pain management docs, internists, you name it, even two different University headache clinics).
I will not give up!!
I have tried a boat load of medications, procedures, manipulations, injections, etc.
I fight my Insurance company all the time!
The one thing I have learned is: friends do not want to hear about my illness!! It makes them uncomfortable. They do not know how to respond.
And, I think some of them, might feel guilt that their life is soooo good, and mine is so sad (they rather not converse with me at all). In all honesty, I really do not have a lot of positive things to add to a conversation. My feelings do not get hurt anymore, nor do I get mad. That's just human nature in a "me" society.
So, please come to this support group any time, because we truly understand.
If not, then he's suggesting either going to a different preventive medicine, or adding acupuncture or biofeedback. It's kinda terrifying when the specialist says "We're running out of treatment options for you."
Yvette, if something doesn't change this year, I'm thinking about asking if I can go to Jefferson. I've read they help the hardest cases.
