Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
When beginning treatment for migraines, my DR put me on Elavil. Which is an anti-depressant, but used in small doses can treat migraines. Well, it didn't work for me. Then we tried Topamax. I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I got one of the side effects which was kidney stones. So, I had to be taken off of that. Now he is recommending a drug called NAMENDA. It is used for Alzheimer's disease, but some neurologists are finding it useful for migraine prevention. Has anyone tried this, if so has it worked?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? It is the first medication they believe works to stop the spreading cortical depression that shakes up the entire brain. It could be the first of many meds to come that are preventatives to treat JUST migraines.
I'm hoping to get on it.
